Eight of Pentacles

We are ongoing a lengthy process that requires a lot of work but showing little in return. To become successful we have to persist.

Eight of PentaclesThe Eight of Coins is a card of hard work. It indicates apprenticeship where we are ready to work hard and sacrifice in the present to improve our future. For example, studying many years for a coveted degree, or working for a year earning minimal wages just to get the experience.

The card calls upon us to get used to routine despite it being sometimes hard or boring. We have to find the good things about routine and try to enjoy it as much as we can.
It is important to remember that the process is long and so we do not give up prematurely. We need to show resilience and persist in our efforts. Only this way will we get to our goal.

Seven of Pentacles

We experienced a disappointment but through it got a lesson which highlighted what is right for us. Despite the letdown we are now ready to take a risk and find our inner truth.

Seven of CoinsWe are disappointed from what there is, which is not what we expected, and as a result experience a sense of inner void. But our suffering is not without merit and the lesson we passed prepares us well: we now know what is right for us and are ready to take a chance to get to the truth.

If we had passed a crisis, that tough time was an essential preparation for what is about to come. We are now smarter and wiser, we had learned the lesson so when the opportunity comes knocking we can be brave and pick what is new and different –a choice leading us to the desired goal.

But if we have not passed a crisis maybe the disappointment is not real or is due to other reasons. In this case we have to overcome our tendency to implement major changes in our lives.

Five of pentacles

We feel threatened and are about to respond in a destructive manner -paying consequently a terrible price. It is crucial that we decipher reality properly and act accordingly. But, if we already acted wrongly we must forgive ourselves and move on.

Five of pentaclesThe Five of Coins, one of the worst cards in the Tarot deck, can show that we experience a real loss and go through a crisis. Knowing that the bad situation we find ourselves in is a direct consequence of our own actions does not make it any easier for us. But, it is important to understand that under the circumstances we had no choice and simply had to respond in the way we did due to the mental distress we experienced.

In the previous stage of the process, the Four of Coins, there was no real threat but we nevertheless felt threatened and started to walk a slippery slope. Since we did not handle the problem correctly, as time went by our reactions worsened until we did what got us to our present situation.

If the card relates to a future question, there is a possibility to avoid the associated pain and sorrow –but only if we handle the problem we face –as represented by the Four of Coins.

Areas of particular relevance: Financial loss, self destructiveness, bachelorhood.

Supportive Obtrusive
Relationships ________ Unfaithfulness, tendency to ruin the relationship, self destructiveness, the stage of bachelorhood and inability to move on
Career ________ Financial loss, failure due to a rush action, acting under pressure, wrong assumptions leading to bad decisions

Four of pentacles

We fail to correctly decipher reality and therefore feel threatened, react badly and cling to the known and the familiar.

Four of pentaclesWe feel threatened by some sort of competition. Something is bothering our peace of mind. We feel that we do not have sure footing in the situation we face. These feelings undermine our confidence, make us feel threatened, and lead to us feeling helpless and envious. Consequently we stick to the known and the familiar, raise our walls and become very possessive. But these reactions lead us in the wrong direction: Instead of dealing with the fear and using it as leverage for self-development we get stuck. It is important to make sure we understand what it is that we are so afraid of. Once we overcome the perceived threat we will understand what needs to be done.

For example, someone’s boss makes a pass with his wife -but this does not mean that she will be receptive to his advances. Instead of getting stressed out and  acting drastically, which can hurt the relationship, the husband should use the fear as leverage and become the “perfect husband” -one that the wife will never think of leaving.

Areas of particular relevance: Stinginess, competitiveness, wealth, financial stability.

Supportive Obtrusive
Relationships Stability and a solid foundation for the relationship Emotional stinginess, fear of losing the other party, stubbornness, jealousy, lack of communication
Career Stability in business and in our career, a solid financial foundation Fear of investment, jealousy, competitiveness, stinginess, short-term focus

Three of pentacles

We are confident in our position in life, a perception which is shared by people in our immediate surroundings, such as employer, family and friends who reward us accordingly.

Three of pentaclesThe Three of Coins is a joyous card which indicates a true cause for a celebration. We receive both an acknowledgement for our hard-gained skills, as well as tangible compensation in the form of a monetary prize or some other benefit.

After discovering our needs, becoming a professional and learning how to enjoy our occupation, we can build ourselves a solid foundation in life. Thanks to our talent, focus and persistence we are now prospering and enjoying the abundance life has to offer.

The Three of Coins is a blessing for relationships: like the Three of Wands it indicates the understanding and acceptance of the other party as the “one” for us.  But the Three of Coins indicates taking a step further such as moving-in together, tying the knot, or having children.

Areas of particular relevance: financial growth, promotion, acknowledgement of skills and talent.

Two of pentacles

We wonder what needs to be done but in actuality we already know the answer! Everything is set and ready for the right action –all we have to do is ignore the restrictions we face and act.

Two of pentaclesThe card Two of Coins presents us with a rare opportunity: If we act we can reach satisfaction and happiness in all areas of life. But something holds us back so we constantly find reasons and excuses why we should not take action.

We seem to debate and consider our options but in reality we just hide behind our indecision so we will not have to act. Deep inside we know the answer: we simply have to ask ourselves what we would have done in a perfect world and act accordingly -leaving limitations and practical considerations behind.

It is important to understand that we must be true to ourselves and only do that which is truly right for us. Otherwise, the truth will haunt us and we will find ourselves unsatisfied in all areas of life.

Areas of particular relevance: Self destruction, indecision, choosing the wrong option, looking for problems where there are none.

Supportive Obtrusive
Relationships A good healthy relationship, variety in the relationship will spice things up and create additional interest Too many debates and indecisions, our need to be certain prohibits progress, we are waiting for the perfect thing –which will never come, lack of action
Career A good time to invest in what we believe in and take risks Too many worries, making no progress, lack of variety, clinging to the known and familiar, indecision

Knight of pentacles

The Indecisive

Knight of pentaclesAlthough we are ready to do so, we still hesitate and do not advance to the next level. We are looking for confirmation from our surroundings -a confirmation that will not come. Consequently we will make no progress on the matter at hand.

Correction: although we are still not sure we are on the right track we have to continue acting and moving forward in our chosen path. Once we do so we will realize it was the right thing to do.

The Knight of Coins indicates that we must be so sure of our actions that we will not move forward before getting approval from our immediate surroundings. But the “go ahead” signal will never come, forcing us to move forward on our own.

We all wait for the right time and the right circumstances. We all say “when we get a raise…” or “at the end of the year…” But the time for us to act is now! Although we are still not convinced that we are doing the right thing regarding the topic at hand, the card indicates that this is exactly what we should do. When we finally act the Knight will turn into Ace of pentacles and we will understand it was indeed the right action to take.

Areas of particular relevance: Commerce, trade, craftsmanship.

  Supportive Obtrusive
Relationships We do not give up, stay in a relationship and fight despite the difficulties We are waiting for approval, hesitate, do not initiate
Career We are good employees, have high work standards but only invest the bare minimum We lack motivation, do not move things forward

Page of pentacles

The Clerk

Page of pentaclesWe are motivated by a strong need for order and stability. We need steadiness and consistency without surprises. We are generally afraid of life so need to know our exact place in it.

Correction: we need to understand that life cannot be constant and predetermined. We have to learn to go with the flow, experience change and even learn to enjoy it.

The Page of Swords represents a state of mind in which we seek stability, organization and order. In the defined period we need to be in state of activity, to materialize our goals and to work hard while being focused, efficient and practical.

The card also indicates that we tend to get lost in the details. We are too cautious and so afraid of making a mistake that we avoid action while waiting to be told what to do.

We have to see the bigger picture, initiate action, understand what needs to be done and simply do it!

Areas of particular relevance: Work, order and organization, health, being in shape.

  Supportive Obtrusive
